MALAGA

6/1/19 Málaga es una hermosa ciudad en la costa de España, también llamada la costa del sol. Fue fundada hace más de 3000 años por fenicios. Cada vez se descubren más aldeas fenicias bajo tierra a medida que se construyen nuevos edificios y autopistas. La dama victoriosa es la patrona de Málaga. Málaga tiene su propia alcazaba, hecha de 3 palacios pequeños en la zona superior, y el resto es una fortaleza. En la parte inferior de la alcazaba se encuentran las ruinas de un teatro romano. Málaga también tiene un museo dedicado a Picasso y muestra gran parte de su trabajo. Málaga is a beautiful city on the coast of Spain, also called the coast of the sun. It was founded over 3000 years ago by Phoenicians. More and more Phoenician villages are being discovered underground as new buildings and highways are trying to be built. The victorious lady is the patron saint of Málaga. Málaga has its own alcazaba, made of 3 small palaces in the upper area, and the rest is a fortress. At the bottom

PRIEGO

5/31/2019 Hoy hicimos una excursión por la Sierra Priego y luego hicimos una visita guiada por la ciudad de Priego. La caminata nos llevó a través de las tierras de cultivo y luego más arriba de la montaña a través del sendero establecido hace miles de años. El camino a través de esas montañas va desde Grecia hasta Cádiz. Y la ciudad en sí es muy tranquila, no es un lugar turístico popular y está llena de casas judías originales y hermosas fuentes. De ahí el nombre, la ciudad de las fuentes. Today we hiked through the Sierra Priego and then had a guided tour through the city of Priego. The hike took us through the farmlands and then farther up the mountain through trail established thousands of years ago. The trail through those mountains goes all the way from Greece to Cadiz. And the city itself is a very quiet one, not a popular tourist spot and full of original jewish homes and beautiful fountains. Hence the name, the city of fountains.

FLAMENCO

5/28/19 Durante nuestro viaje tuvimos la maravillosa oportunidad de ver un espectáculo de flamenco! Es una de las formas de danza más interesantes que he visto. Este estilo de baile tiene tres elementos: la canción, el baile y la guitarra. Los tres son muy importantes, pero creo que la canción tiene la mayor importancia, está destinada a mostrar el sufrimiento de los gitanos a lo largo de su historia. ¡El cantante durante este show en particular, incluso se levantó e hizo algunos movimientos de baile! During our trip we had the wonderful opportunity to watch a flamenco show! It is one of the most interesting forms of dance Ive ever seen. This style of dance has three elements: the song, the dance and the guitar. All three are very important but i believe the song has the most importance, its meant to show the suffering of the gypsy people throughout their history. The singer during this show in particular even got up and did a few dance moves herself!

GRANADA

5/25/19 Hoy caminamos por la Alhambra, la atracción más grande de Granada. Es el sitio más visitado de Granada, las entradas de un día pueden ser difíciles de conseguir si no planificas con anticipación. Vimos la alcazaba, que era la fortaleza, y el generalife lleno de hermosos jardines y pozas de agua destinadas a crear una imagen de espejo perfecta, utilizada anteriormente como un espacio de relajación para los reyes. La Alhambra también albergaba a la realeza, como Carlos V.   Today we walked through the Alhambra, the largest attraction in Granada. Its is the most visited site in Granada, day tickets can be hard to come by if you dont plan ahead. We saw the alcazaba, which was the fortress, and the generalife full of beautiful gardens and pools of water meant to create a perfect mirror image, previously used as a relaxation space for kings. The Alhambra also housed royals, such as Charles V.

EL ALCAZAR

                         5/24/19 El Alcázar es un gran palacio en el centro de Córdoba. Tiene grandes jardines preciosos, con muchas fuentes. Isabel y Fernando vivieron allí durante 8 años y planearon la inquisición. Aquí es donde comenzaron la conquista y conquistaron exitosamente Granada, la última tierra islámica que quedó en España. Este palacio también es donde Cristóbal Colón recibió su bendición antes de su viaje a las Américas. El Alcazar is a large palace in the center of Cordoba. It has large beautiful gardens, with many fountains. Isabel and Ferdinand lived there for 8 years and planned the inquisition. Here is where they started the conquest and successfully conquered Granada, the last islamic land left in spain. This palace is also were Christopher Columbus received his blessing before his trip to the americas.

MADINAT AL-ZAHARA

5/22/19 La Madinat al-Zahara era una ciudad construida en las afueras de Córdoba para mostrar el poder de la Califa, que tenía un palacio magnífico donde Abd al-Rahman III vivía con su familia. Solo la estructura se mantuvo durante 80 años antes de que la ciudad fuera incendiada durante una revuelta, pero la ciudad albergaba a la realeza, así como a soldados y ciudadanos. La estructura tuvo una fuerte influencia islámica y se pueden ver muchos de los arcos originales que aún están en pie en las ruinas. The Madinat al-Zahara was a city constructed in the outskirts of Cordoba to show the power of the Calif, it held a magnificent palace where Abd al-Rahman III lived with his family. The structure only stood for 80 years before the city was burnt down during a revolt, but the city housed royalty as well as soldiers and citizens. The structure had a very strong islamic influence and you can see many of the original arches still standing in the ruins.

SEVILLA

5/18/19 Hoy caminamos por la ciudad de Sevilla. Vimos la catedral donde fue enterrado Cristóbal Colón. Su tumba se encuentra en el centro de la cátedra sostenida por los reyes que representan a las 4 regiones de España. Castilla, León, Navarra y Aragón. Hoy también fue el día de la coronación de la estatua de la Virgen María. También caminamos por el alcázar, o Palacio de los Reyes en Sevilla. El propio rey era cristiano, pero su palacio está lleno de diseños e influencias árabes. Este alcázar también se conoce como el reino de Dorn en "Game of Thrones". Today we walked around the city of Sevilla. We saw the cathedral where Christopher Columbus was buried. His tomb is in the center of the cathedra held up by for kings that represent the 4 regions of Spain. Castilla, Leon, Navarra, and Aragon.
